Dry Scalp Method – Hair Care Tips!

Dry Scalp Method

If your scalp is dry, itchy and irritated or your curls dry and lacking sheen, try this simple remedy!

fri 3Step 1 – Apply witch hazel directly onto your scalp. Massage the scalp and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

Step 2.- Warm up 5 tablespoons of your favorite organic honey just enough to make it a smooth liquid. Mix it with 5 tablespoons of EVOO Extra Virgin OIive Oil. Add this mixture in a bottle with a spout, with your favorite conditioner. I used Coconut Sublime Moisturizing Conditioner http://www.curls.biz/store/best-conditioner-for-dry-hair/.

Step 3 – Rinse your hair. Shampoo with a sulfate free cleanser (I used Curlicious Curls Cleansing Cream http://www.curls.biz/store/curlicious-curls-hair-cleanser/). Apply the conditioner mixture. Cover with a plastic cap and use your favorite heat/steam appliance to allow for full follicle penetration (I used the Hair Therapy Wrap http://www.curls.biz/store/Hair-Therapy-Wrap-Deep-Conditioning-on-the-Go-p-410.html).

Step 4- After 20 minutes, rinse and style. ENJOY your amazingly shiny curls and soothed scalp!

ANTI BREAKAGE TIP #1 – Moisturize your hair with a water based moisturizer (Quenched Curls Moisturizer) and seal your hair (and ends) with a natural oil.
Pure Monoi de Tahiti oil is my personal favorite!

Tips for Dry And Itchy Scalp During Winter

Thursday’s Textured Tip: Is your scalp dry and itchy during the cold winter months? Chances are, most of us experience this issue. Here’s a quick remedy…

Mix 2 parts natural oil with 1 part essential oil, apply directly to the scalp 1-3x a week.

Here are some of my favorites!

  • Tea tree oil is an anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antibacterial, germicide that stimulates scalp, cells, and hair follicles.
  • Rosemary relieves pain from extreme itchiness and dryness and increases circulation to scalp.
  • Lavender alleviates itchiness.
  • Lemon helps with dryness and activates sebum glands.
