Hello!
Since you believe that you are a Type 4 and you have been transitioning for upwards of 6 months thus far, I can personally tell you that the Milkshake that is in the Transitioning Kit wouldn't be the right product for you. As, I'm sure that your hair is probably loaded with a lot of new growth at this. The right styling product for you would be either the Souffle or Whipped Cream. But, because I don't know exactly if you are a Type 4 A, B, or C it doesn't leave me with all that much to go on as far as exactly what your real hair type is.
If you are truly a Type 4, depending on your new growth. Because, its the new growth that is your natural unaltered hair. So, if your hair has a tightnes to the curl pattern, it will form a coil. Mattresses are made up of individual coils that are invisible, unless you take your mattress apart to see. Now, coils or corkscrews are nothing more than very tightly wound curls. Oh, and yes most Black people have a curl pattern to their hair, even though of them don't believe it to be true. As, if they don't see the type of curls that Cree Summer has sprouting from her head then, you have a hard time changing their minds otherwise. Even the African people that you see with very, very kinky hair have curl patterns to their hair too. It's just that the curl pattern is so tightly curled, till it forms a tight coil/corkscrew. So, it makes the hair look very compacted.
Your hair has curls to it, but its just that your hair forms coil/corkscrew type of curls versus waves (Wavy curls/Type 2) or spiral curls (Botticelli curls/Type 3).
Now, I am going to give you step by step directions on how to use the products okay.
1. Make sure that your hair stays soaking wet after rinsing out the conditioner. You are to never rub the hair, but you are to instead ligthly blot the hair a few time to just lightly rid the hair of a small amount of water. But, because curly hair loves moisture, the more water that your hair retains the better.
2. Section of the hair into 4 or more sections. Use hair clips to keep the hair sectioned.
3. Take your first section, and then spray it with Curls Quenched, detangle it with a brush (working your way from the bottom slowly up to the top), and then apply Curls Souffle/Curls Whipped to it (making sure to thoroughly smooth the product through with your fingers).
4. Next, you will move on to your next section and repeat the same steps all over again (spray, detangle, apply product, smooth it through).
5. You will scrunch your hair all over. Scrunching is done in order to better enhance your hair's texture.
6. Lastly, you will just let your hair fully airdry without touching it.
Before bathing at night, you will cover you hair with a plastic cap to keep it from getting wet. And, at night, you would either sleep with a satin bonnet on your head, or you would sleep on a satin pillowcase in order to keep your curls from getting excessively matted or tangled while you sleep.
In the mornings, you would re-spray your hair all over with Curls Quenched. You would do this in order to first refresh your curls after they have been slept on. You are to spray only enough to dampen your hair, as you hair should not be left dripping wet. Lastly, you would re-apply a little bit of Curls Souffle/Whipped Cream and then you would scrunch your curls into better form.
Curls Souffle and Curls Whippe Cream are concentrated products. So, you will need to emulsify either cream before applying it to your hair okay. And, do not glob the product on in large amounts. As, it is always best to start off with smaller amounts when it comes to using concentrated products of this nature. Oh, and you would either use the Curl Soufle in your hair one or the Whipped Cream the next. As, they weren't created to be layered over each other or combined, okay.
I would honestly suggest that you get a full-sized Curl Souffle and during checkout, when you see the "Comment" box come up just put in in that yu would like 3 free samples of the Curls Whipped Cream sent to you okay. As, with every order you can get three free samples of your choice sent out to you along with your order.
And, definitely keep me posted on how things go from here okay!
