True 4B Hair - What should I use?
I'm new here. My daughter is five years old. She has truly kinky curls. I'm attaching 2 pics. In one her hair is natural and in the other it's straightened. Just trying to beat you to the punch since I've noticed that you sometimes ask to see pics.
What haircare regimen should I be using? I would like her to be able to wear her hair down naturally and to bring out the natural curls in her hair. I've been trying for so long to go against her curls (using the same products I use, straightening it, etc) and just recently had the epiphany that I should be working WITH her kinky curls, not against them! I suppose it just seemed natural to be that way because ever since I was old enough to take care of my own hair, it was already relaxed. So, my sister and I never truly learned how to take care of natural hair. I'm learning now though!! No sulfates or mineral oil, no combing or brushing when dry, etc. I want to use a line that's appropriate for her type of hair AND for her age. I now realize how important that is. This product line sounds great and if it works for my daughter, I will be singing its praises to as many people as I can!!!

Welcome Lindaisy! You have truly got a little cutie on your hands !
Well, I want to say first off thanks for sharing pics of your daughter's hair. As, it makes it alot easier for others to see what her hairtype is and recommend the right products for her. And, I am glad to see pictues of a Type 4 curly being represented. As, Curls is a line that can meet the needs of not only people with looser waves but also people with kinky curls as well.
The products that I recommend that you try out for your daughter's hair would be the CurlyQ products. As, they are perfect for you to use on your 5-year old's daughter head of hair. Right now, her scalp is still sensitive. so the CurlyQ line of products work great for sensitive scalps. The CurlyQ line of products work exactly the same as the Curls for Women line. The only exception is that the CurlyQ line directly addresed the needs of young children's scalps and hair through slight differences in ingredients and ingredient percentages. But, you would still be receiving the same positive results with the CurlyQ products as you would with the Curls for Women line.
I understand that a big part of wearing one's hair natural is being able to wear it down without any problems. So, here's what I would suggest for you to buy from the CurlyQ line that will allow your daughter the opportunity to be able to wear her hair down:
1. CurlyQ Curlie Cutie Cleansing Cream-Cleanser
2. CurlyQ Coconut Dream Conditioner-Conditioner
3. CurlyQ Moist Curls Moisturizer-Moisturizer
4. CurlyQ Custard-Styling Product
5. CurlyQ Radiant Ringlets-Finishing Product
Now, if you already have a favorite shampoo or conditioner that you like using on your daughter's hair, then you can start off by purchasing just the styling products (Moist Curls, Custard, and Radiant Ringlets) and then later on you can order the cleansing and conditioning products (if you like). Or you can order the CurlyQ Sample Kit-The Essentials + CurlyQ Custard Kit instead. As, it offers 2 oz. sizes of all of the products mentioned, except for the Radiant Ringlets.
Oh, and you can use the styling products to style your daughter's hair with whether they are in plats, braids, twists, or down curly. As, the products are actually designed to work for any of these hairstyles mentioned.

4B/C hair is also dry
Thank you so much for that reply. One thing I wanted to ask about was about what should I do with the fact that her hair looks so dry once the products have dried. I'm not getting all the curl definition that i would like also. This is due to some of her ends being a little straightened due to an old texturizer. I need to get those ends cut off. But when I use the products, I love the way it looks when its wet but one its dry, the sheen isn't there at all anymore. What do you suggest I do?
I'm cowashing and using the leave-in and the custard. And I plan on getting the straighter ends cut off in the next few days as I know that it'll help with more defined curls.

Do you have the CurlyQ Randiant Ringlets product? If not, then I wholeheartedly sugest that you aply this product on your daughter's hair last for added shine and softness. Also, before you started using the products on your daughter's hair did you you do a shampoo wash first with the Curlie Cutie Cleansing Cream to thoroghly remove all dirt and debris? As, it is recomended that you start the regimen off with a thorough hair wash. Now, you can of course co-wash in betwen shampoos (which are to be done at least once a week).
Now, because you r daughter still has remnants of a chemical texturixer in her hair, there will of course be some pieces of haiur that may appear looser and less defined on your daughter's head. However, to quickly get rid of these texturized ends you would need yo have them cut off soon. But, if you aren't ready to do that just yet with your daughter's hair and want it to gain more length, then I would suggest that after you apply the CurlyQ Custard to your daughter's hair that you then scrunch the hair to give your daughter's natural curls more of a defined look to them. And, remember, the more that you wash your daughter's hair and the longer that she transitions then the more pronounced your daughter's curl pattern will become.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I've ordered the radiant ringlets and received it today. How exactly should i use it in her curls regimen? Currently i'm either cowashing her hair or wetting it every night. Then I section it off, apply the curly custard and braid it into individual single plaits. Where and when should i be including the radiant ringlets?
I'm so regretting the texturizer in her hair. It was the recommendation of a stylist who said it would make her hair more manageable and make her curls looser. It did do that but her hair also is sooo dry now and I shouldn't have wanted her curls looser. I soooooo wish i came upon this site sooner. Unfortunately it was only about a week after. Hindsight is always 20/20...

Hey!
There are a number of ways that the Radiant Ringlests product can be used:
1.It can be used as a stand alone styler.
2.It can be used as a pomade for smoothing down the hair, especially around the hairline and nape.
3. It can be layered over any CurlyQ styling product for added sheen and softness.
4, You can put it on the ends of the hair for a extra lubrication and to help avoid split ends.
Hope this info helps!

Thanks again for great advice. Tonight when I did her hair, I dampened it with water, and then the curly q moisturizer, the curly custard, and then the radiant ringlets. I did all this in sections. After I put her hair into two ponytails and double strand twisted the ends. I applied extra radiant ringlets to the ends and then secured it with a small scrunchy while folding the ends over. (A technique I got from someone to prevent her daughter's ends from drying up. It works great!). When it started to dry I could instantly tell that it wasn't going to be dry at all. I can't wait to undo the ponytail tomorrow to see my moisturized masterpiece!!
Thanks again. I'm so glad you suggested that product!!!
