Default SOOO much hair coming out...

My little girl is 2 years old, I have been using the Curlie Q line on her since she was very young. I do the exact steps for washing/detangling/moisturizer that you give on your website. I LOVE the products. The last few times I have washed my little girl's hair SO MUCH hair is coming out. Is this normal? It is pretty tangled but I never comb through it without the conditioner in it and I ordered the wide tooth comb from this website.

I wasn't sure if there was a way to prevent this, am I not detangling enough?

First off, I must say that your little girl is as cute as a button!

Second, what products from the CURLY Q line are you currently using?

Well, your little cutie's hair should be thoroughly cleansed and conditioned once a week. After conditioning, you would lightly blot excess water from your daughter's hair. Now, when detangling, you should always section your daughter's hair off first (preferably into four parts). Next, you would take a section spray moist Curls on it, and then begin detangling that section starting from bottom to the top. Normally, I would suggest that you spray Moist Curls first and then section off the hair. But, really concentrating a section with Moist Curls will help the comb to really glide through a lot better after conditioning and therefore take out less hair.

Now, after you have detangled a section, you then apply product to it. I would suggest you going with either Curly Q Custard or Milkshake instead of the Princess Glaze. Next, you would apply the product to your daughter's hair making sure to throughly smooth the product through. And, once you have finished the first section, you would just move on to the next section and repeat the same process over again(Spray-Detangle-Apply Product). Lastly, you would just let your daughter's hair airdry.

Now, when you want to style your daughter's hair down, here's what I suggest you do:

1. Spraying about 5-7 sprays of Moist Curls all over your daughter's head.
2. Take a small-to-moderate amount of CurlyQ Custrard and apply it all over your daughter's head making sure to evenly distribute it throughout. Once finished, scrunch the curls into place and let your daughter's hair airdry on its own.

And, when you want to style your daughter's hair in a ponytail/puff, you would just spray the Moist Curls first all over your daughter's head. Second, you evenly distribute the CurlyQ Milkshake all over your daughter's head. Third, you would take a baby brush (preferrably the Pink Baby Denman Brush) and brush your daughter's hair back into a ponytail or puffs. And, lastly, I would take a small amount of the Radiant Ringlets and use it to smooth down any flyaways around your daughter's hairline to finish off the style.

BTW...If your daughter likes to play with her curls alot when they are down, then definitely try to keep her from doing so. As, sometimes kids do play in their hair a bit too much and that can cause tangling problems. Also, kids when they are playing outside or even in the home do have a tendency to do a lot of rolling and rubbing up against things and this can cause tangling problems as well. Because as well know, kids are very playful by nature.

You can't detangle your daughter's hair with conditioner in to loosen up her tangles. And, then afterwards you can do a more thorough detangling after spraying Moist Curls on each section. Just be sure to rinse off the comb after detangling your daughter's hair with conditioner on it. So, this way the comb won't be full of product when you use it to thoroughly detangle your daughter's hair afterwards.

Also, you can sometimes opt to use the Baby Denman Brush in place of the detangling comb, when it comes to giving your daughter's hair a thorough detangling as well. As, the brushe's bristles are soft and will never rip out your daughter's hair.

question...how much is "so much?" we shed ~70-100 hairs every day. Keep in mind, if you skip detangling for 1, 2 or 3 days (which i never recommend) then you will see 1, 2, 3x the amount of shedding.

i look forward to hearing from you.

Default Detangling

mdellinger,

You don't recommend skipping detangling for 1,2,3 days, but what are you suppose to do if your hair is dry?

I only detangle my hair when I wash it, which is about once a week. And when I do a conditioner wash in between I do not bother to detangle. Is this problematic?

Even though I am not Mahisha, I can offer you this advice:

You would be doing the correct thing by detangling your curls after co-washing. As, anytime that you throughly cleanse & condition or even just co-wash your hair you should detangle it while it is soaking wet. And, to help with the detangling process it is always best to spray Curls Quenched (for adults) or CurlyQ's Moist Curls (for children) all over the head first (after rinsing out the conditioner of course).

I don't wash my hair everyday. Instead, I do so only once a week. Therefore, the only time that my hair gets detangled is on the day that I wash and condition my hair. So, if you were someone that only wet your hair once a week, then detangling once a week would be enough. But, for someone who wets their hair on a daily basis, then detangling would take place on a daily basis, instead of only once a week.

Hope this info helps!
