Default CURLS Product Application Questions?

The question that I receive 70% of the time is, "how do i properly apply my CURLS styling products?"

I have outlined clear instructions here for product usage. Let us know if you have any questions.

Day 1- STEP 1 - Cleanse - Curlicious Curls Cleansing Cream (or Pure Curls Clarifying Shampoo IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME USING CURLS….to remove build up from other products).
STEP 2 -Condition with Coconut Sublime Moisturizing Conditioner or Curl Ecstasy Hair Tea conditioner). Section hair (starting in the back) Apply STEP 3 – Moisture - Quenched Curls moisturizer generously throughout hair.
Follow up with Step 4 – Style. Choose 1 of our 4 styling products (Curls Milkshake, Curl Souffle, Whipped Cream or Curls Goddess Glaze). Scrunch the product into moisturized hair before moving on to the next section of the head. Repeat on the next section…until you end up at the top of your hair. Allow to dry.
Day 2 - Freshen up the hair with Quenched Curls moisturizer in the am to refresh, hydrate and to revive the curl. If needed, touch up with your styling product of choice.

Default Twistout question...

I'm new to the Curls line. What steps would you recommend, using the Curls line, to do twist outs?

hello,

i would follow the same steps for cleansing, conditioning and moisturizing, however, i would suggest using our Whipped Cream for twist outs. start in the back of your hair...part the hair from ear to ear. moisturize first with Quenched, then apply Whipped Cream to each section that you are going to twist, making sure to fully cover the hair. twist and repeat. i recommend letting it sit in overnight (for at least 9 hours) before releasing.

Default Relaxed hair...

My hair is relaxed - not yet ready to go natural (4B). I work out frequently and often condition wash my hair (every other day) with Ecstacy, then apply Milkshake, put in a bun, and air dry (love these products!!). Are these the right products and frequency to use for my hair? Also, is it ok for relaxed hair to stay wet for the entire day (due to the bun) Thanks

I don't know how thick or long your hair is, but I can offer this advice:

1. You can continue co-washing your hair every other day as usual.

2. After you have finished co-washing, lightly blot your hair to remove excess water.

3. Try to lessen the amount of Curls Milkshake that you normally use in your hair. As, I find that if I end up applying too much product then it will take longer to absorb and in effect dry.

4. After you have formed and secured your bun, you can take your blowdryer put it on low heat and then blow dry it for a few minutes to set the product. And, then to finish and lock in the shine, you would put the blowdryer on a cool setting and then just cooldry for a few minutes again. Remember when blowdrying you do not need to do so any longer than 3 to 5 minutes either way.

Also, you could just co-wash and then use a bit of Curls Goddess Glaze to smooth your hair back instead. As, the Curls Goddess glaze is dsigned to give the hair extra hold and frizz protection.

Hope this information helps!

Default new products

Is Curls coming out with any new products in the near future? I keep hearing rumors about a styling serum coming out later this month. Is this true? If it is true, then what is the serum designed to do and how does in work in relation to the existing curls products?

Thanks!

Unhappy My Hair????

I am currently trying to go back natural; my hair is past my shoulders and because i don't want to cut it all off at once i want to gradually cut it off, my hair is soft but THICK, especially my new groth that has not been permed. so... Questions:
1. what exactly do i use to help grow my hair faster, so i can cut off more of the relaxed?
2. how long will it take to go completely natural?
3. In the meantime I'm a senior in high school but plan to go to college; but i need a way to style my hair? (quick and easy)
4. what are some special occasion styles that i can use for like prom or something?
5. Where are some places that I can actually go in the store and but the products?
----- I live in Sanford, Florida; can i purchase similar product at store like walgreens, target, etc.

Thank you

Hi Tweety!

Well, I opted to do a long transition and it took me approximately 1 year to fully transition. However, there really is no specific time limit on exactly how long it will take for your hair to become fully natural. As, every transitioner's journey will be decidely different.

Some people opt to transition for a short time and get the BIG CHOP done earlier on. While, there are still others who prefer to let the relaxer grow out by doing mini-chops along the way.

For college you can wear you hair down curly, in a curly ponytail or puff, or do twist outs if you like. Motowngirl has a great site where she has detailed instructions on how you can achieve various curly styles. Here's her site: Home - MotownGirl.com :: Do It Yourself Natural Haircare

Products that you can find at Walgreens, CVS, and possibly Target:

1. Africa's Best Organics Texture My Way Curlkeeper Moisturizing Hair Lotion-
Costs around $5 and it is a curly hair styling lotion

2. Africa's Best Organics Hair Mayonnaise-Costs around $4 and it is a deep treatment product

3. Tresemme Smooth and Silky Shampoo for Dry or Damaged hair-Costs between $3-$5 and it is a gentle moisturizing shampoo

4.Tresemme Smooth and Silky Conditioner for Dry or Damaged hair-Costs between $3-$5 and it is a moisturizing rinse-out conditioner

For a good prom style for curly hair I would suggest you have your hair put into a curly updo. Or you can have your hair styled into a bun and have 2 curly tendrils be left out on each side of your head.

Now remember, as long as you keep your hair well conditioned and hydrated then it will grow properly. And, in know, you'll see your hair retaining more length to it. And, your new growth will become off the hook!

Question Second day hair

I am 3c-4a and order to get defined curls, I have to wash my hair daily with conditioning cleanser. I don't seem to have much luck when it comes to 2nd day hair. My hair gets flat and frizzy on 2nd day, and I have not found any product that works. I know it's not good to wash my hair everyday, but that seems to be the only way for my hair to look decent. Any suggestion?
