How do I know what # curl I am dealing with?
My 4 year old african-american daughter has naturally curly hair but I am unsure how to tell what type of curls she has? Help! I have never been able to let her wear it free because it does not retain moisture and looks frizzy but when it is moisturized it has small spiral ringlets.

Latanya, do you have a picture of your daughter's hair that you could upload? As, this would me a chance to correctly match her hairtype(s), by looking at it visually.
Also, on the CURLS.biz Home Page, you will see the following "LEARN ABOUT CURLS". Once you place your cursor directly over this caption, a number of options (underneath) it will appear. You would choose CURLS Product Guide, and then click on it. Next, you would scroll down the CURLS Product Guide page until you get to the CURLS Hair Texture Chart. As, this chart was designed to be a helpful aid in distinguishing one's hairtype(s).
Now no matter what hairtype(s) you daughter has here's what will be needed to properly care for her natural curls:
1. Wide-toothed Comb
2. 100% Boar Bristle Brush (Natural bristle brush)
3. Hydrating Shampoo
4. Moisturizing Conditioner
5. Liquid moisturizing, detangling, and conditioning spray
6. Creamy hair product(s)
These products are optional: glaze/gel for extra hold, natural hair oil(s) for scalp dryness and/or added hair lubrication, and a glosser for adding extra shine to the hair. Also, when it comes to hair elastics, always use the Goody "Ouchess" ones. And, always cut them out of the hair to make for easier removal.

Welcome Waywavy1308! I'm so glad that you joined the forum as well!
Well, even though I am not Mahisha, I wanted to saay this. From what you have wrote you definitely sound like you have gone through a change in hairtexture as you have matured. This is common and it happens to a lot of people.
Also, from what you have wrote, it sounds like your curls is of the Type 2 variety. And, the products that would ork for you would be the Curls Curliscious Cleansing Cream, Curls Asian Hair Tea Conditioner, Curls Quenched Moisturizer, Curls Godess Glaze (for maximum hold, frizz protection, & extra curl definition) or Curls Milkshake (will make your curls look smother, frizz free, and extra soft). The Glaze is the styling product that you would go with only if you are someone who desires more hold to their curls and has a very big problem with frizz. As, it offers the most hold and frizz protection out of all of the Curls products. And, the Milkshake is a lightweight creamy product that will deliver added smoothness to your curls. And, because it isn't as dense as Curls Souffle or Curls Whipped Cream it would be perfect to use on your Type 2 natural curls. So, if you are looking for something lightweight that will leave your curls softer, smoother, yet nicely defined, then Curls Milkshake would be your best bet.

You are SO welcome, WayWavy! And, don't forget to purchase the Curls Quenched Moisturizer to go along with the Curls Milkshake, by the way.
