Hi, I consider myself to be a 4A/B type...I just recently purchased
cleanser/conditioner
whipped cream
souflee

I also was suggested to try the OJon products by my stylist (she colors my hair and gives me trims)

But I just got my hair lightened (Redken Ash/Violet) really nice reddish/brown
and anyway, I completed the ritual with my items and my hair came out beatifully...
I mixed the "curlisto" method with what I viewed on the demo video for Curls..
I sh/cond
section applied the milkshake and then I actually applied some of the whipped cream, I really liked the end result, but I think the next time I will use the souflee instead of the whipped cream to see the difference.

Default Newbie-4A Type Hair

Hello everyone! I am a new member to CURLS. My mother told me about this product line a few weeks ago and said it's the best moisturizer she has ever used; which is impressive given that my mother has very course and dry hair.

After educating myself on CURLS product line and reading products reviews I decided to purchase the Clarifying Shampoo and Curls Milkshake that I am waiting to arrive. I have 4a type hair....I think. My hair has a nice length when straighten (btwn my ears & neck) but after wearing a full sewn-in weave for almost 3 years, it is limp and thin. I been wearing my natural hair out for about 5 months now and am still learning what products work and don't work for my hair type. I educated myself first about African American hair by reading Ultra Black Hair Growth II and from there have been getting better and better at maintaining my hair. I am open to any product that has essential ingredients that hair can react to in a positive way.
If you have 4 type hair, what has your experience been with CURLS product line?

Welcome!

Now, I just want you to know that the Curls Clarifying Shampoo is a good product to use to remove all buildup that is in your hair before using any of the Curls products in the hair. Also, it is designed to be used to clarify one's hair after they have gone swimming, or it can be used once a month for doing a clarifying wash on the hair with. So, I am hoping that you do have a moisturizing shampoo that you use in your hair already. As, dryness is often a big factor while transitioning.

Also, I am going to tell you that it is always recommended that you spray the hair first with Curls Quenched and then apply Curls Milkshake to it if you are going to be using it your sole styling product. So, I do try to tell people the correct way to use the products so that they can yield the best results to them.

Now, after you use Curls Clarifying Shampoo in your hair, you will need to follow it up with a deep conditioner. Also, I am bit puzzled on whether you are buying this product to use as a moisturizer for your hair or as a stand-alone styling product to achieve a more curly look to yur hair instead?

Also, I don't know if you had already known this but Curls gives their customers to pick 3 free samples of their choosing with ever purchase they make. So, you could have actually gotten the Curls Clarifying in sample size, Curls Cleansing Cream, and Curls Asian hair Tea Conditioner as samples. And, then you could have gotten instead a full-size Curls Quenched Moisturizer to go along with the Curls Milkshake.

Here's how I normally recommend that people use the products:

1. Once a week, you will wash and condition your hair. You would use the Curls Cleansing Cream to wash your hair with and you would use either the Curls Coconut Sublime or Asian Hair Tea Conditioner to condition your hair with. And, you will need to use a wide-toothed comb to both distribute the conditioner in your hair effectively and do a detangling of your hair while it is in the conditioning process. So, if you do not have a wide-toothed comb then I definitely suggest you getting one.

2. After you have rinsed out the conditioner from your hair, then I want you to lightly blot away any excess water that is dripping from your hair. I do suggest you using paper towels to do so. However, your hair is to remain fairly soaking wet.

3. Next, you are to section your hair off. Now, normally I do suggest that you section your hair off into 4 parts, but you can section your hair off into more parts if necessary.

4. Once you have finished sectioning off your hair, then you will take your first section of hair and spray it from root to tip with the Curls Quenched Moisturizer. Next, I suggest that you take a sturdy brush and then thoroughly detangle your hair starting from the bottom to the top. After you have detangled this first section, then you would apply either Curls Milkshake, Souffle, Whipped Cream, or Curls Goddess Glaze to it (making sure to thoroughly smooth it through). Once you have finished smoothing it through, then you just move on to the next section of hair and repeat the same process all over again.

5. Now, after you have finished detangling and applying product to your whole head, you would scrunch your hair all over for about a minute or two to help really bring out your hair's texture and then lastly you would just let yuor hair airdry.

6. When bathing, always make sure that your hair is covered with a plastic cap. As, this is necessary in order to keep your hair from getting wet and frizzing and shrinking up. After you have finished swimming, always be sure to wash the hair with Curls Purifying Shampoo in order to clarify the hair. And, then always follow that up with Curls Asian Hair Tea Conditioner.

8. At night, you should either be sleeping on a satin pillowcase or wearing a satin bonnet on your hair. As, this is necessary in order to keep your hair from becoming tangled and matted while you sleep. Also, if you have the Curls Restoration Treatment (or for when you do get it), you would apply this to your scalp where you hair is thinnest at least 2 or 3 times a week. You don't need to apply it everyday to your scalp, because the scalp needs to breathe and doesn't need to be loaded down due to apply applications of products on it.

9. In the morning, you would first re-dampen your hair with the Curls Quenched Moisturizer. After you spray your hair, then take about a minute to massage it into your hair. Next, you would then re-apply either Curls Milkshake, Souffle, Whipped Cream, or Goddess Glaze thoroughly smooth it through, and then fingerstyle your curls into shape.

10. Anytime you desire added shine and want to better control frizzies and you don't want to use a gel to do so, then using Curls Euphoria Elixir after using either Curls
Milkshake, Souffle, or Whipped Cream would be a great product to use. Now, this product has a pomade consistency to it so it is to be used very saringly in order to avoid buildup. Also, it is not to be used everyday on the hair, as this is recommended iin order to avoid any buildup issues.

11. Pure Curls Clarifying Shampoo can be used as an alternate shampoo when doing a clarifying wash on the hair once a month. And, as I have preiously mentioned it is also designed to be used to clarify the hair after one has gone swimming too.

This is an outline of how to use all of the Curls products. And, I must tell you that being heavy handed with any of the styling products or even Curls Quenched would definitely be the wrong way to go with them, okay.

Keep me posted okay!

Default Thanks So Blessed

Thanks So Blessed for providing me step-by-step instructions on how to use the Curls products.

I do use a moisturizer shampoo and a deep conditioner, in which I place a plastic cap on my head and sit under a hair dryer for at least 15 minutes and rinse out. I also use a daily hair butter (moisturizer).

I purchased Curls Clarifying Shampoo because I want to use a product that cleanses my hair but does not strip it of its natural moisture. I used the shampoo once so far and I like the pleasant smell and light consistency. However, I was not convinced that it was cleansing my hair throughly because it does not lather, so I found myself using more than instructed. It will take me some time to get use to.

I love the Curls Milkshake. It is light, creamy and smells great. It did a great job of detangling my hair, made it easy to comb (wide tooth only) and plait my hair into large braids; which I take down the next day to achieve the style I am going for. However, I quickly learned that this product does not absorb well on dry hair and thus most be used as instructed...on wet hair. So in order to use it on a daily, I think I will do as you recommend and purchase the moisturizing spray before applying the Curls Milkshake.

I was not aware that I could have received 3 free samples along with my purchase. Can I still receive samples? If so, can you instruct me how to do so?

You welcome!

Now, Curls Clarifying Shampoo won't provide alot of lather like normal shampoos on the market do. So, I wouldn't advise you to be heavy handed with it, as believe me it actually is deeply cleansing the hair (just not in a harsh, overly stripping way). Also, you can continue to use the Curls Clarifying Shampoo on your hair once or even twice a month to do clarifying wash on your it okay.

Also, Curls Milkshake is best used on either wet hair or in combination with Curls Quenched. So, yes getting Curls Quenched would be the next step for your to make.

Now, with every purchase customers can have 3 free sample products of their choosing mailed to them with their order. During checkout, a "Comment" box will come up and within that box you are to type in the 3 free sample products you would like mailed out to you. And, you can pick any of the cleansers, conditioners, or styling products to have sent to you in sample sizes for free, okay.
