Default Stretching Curls

Have any of you tried natural products to loosen your curls (coconut cream/lime juice or Baka's sahara clay)? I tried the sahara clay and it works, but it was pure hell to rinse out of my hair. I like the coconut cream because the natural oils condition my hair nicely. Jury is still out on its ability to loosen curl. The end results on both is temporary since no chemicals are involved.

There are various textures on my head, which is typical, but the difference is frustrating. I wear my hair twisted mostly but my dream/goal is to have 'wash-n-go' hair. The middle of my head from ear to ear is preventing that, so I'm trying to even things out a bit.

I tried the Baka stuff and that stuff is a total waste of money! I had gotten excited when I found about Baka's natural hair relaxing products. I actually bought a kit with the Baka relaxing products in it along with the shampoo and conditioner. The Baka natural relaxing products are messy, smelly, and they are excesivelyt drying to the hair. I got major shedding and dryness and no real relaxing benefits to my hair at all. And, it took me a while to nurse my hair back to health, which really upseted me.

Also, it is touted as having all natural safe ingredients in it. But, even though the ingredients are natural, then aren't all that safe and can cause irritation to one's skin.

Question

I just tried the Baka relaxer last week and it did loosen my curl and I liked that result. But it did leave my hair and scalp very dry so I was scratching for a few days. Don't think I will use it again. I didn't use their rose water, shampoo and conditioner. Don't know if that will help.

I have ever used these product you speak of, I never even heard of them until today, however I have used yogurt mixed with a bit of honey which managed to loosen up my curls somewhat, I've also used henna which also stretches out the curl a bit; the only problem I have with the henna is that it can be an itch to wash out if you do not sieve the henna before mixing.

I stopped using Baka. The granules are too course and doesn't rinse off easily. I found bentonite clay just as good, cheaper (Whole Foods) and rinses away much better. The granules are similar to baking flour or powdered sugar.

Chicurl, exactly how do you use the Bentonite clay in your hair?

Hello, luvurcurlz! I have been using henna in my hair for 2 years. I am b/t 3A/ & 3C. I usually purchase the best henna on the market but on my daughter's hair (3B-4something) I apply Henna for African hair; she has a kid relaxer in her hair. This type henna is smoother than the regular henna and it washes out well. Also, her scalp showed a few crusty-dandruff spots and the henna eliminated it completely (henna is antifungal). For extra moisturizer I add 1/4 cup plain yogurt and 1/2 teaspoon olive oil in my henna mix right before I apply it. Have you checked Henna for Hair I think henna is the best natural hair product ever. If you have any other questions, I'm here to answer them.

Thank you Lovemycurls I have checked out the henna for hair site and think it's great. I never thought to put yogurt in the henna mix does it still work in the same way?
TIA and I will definately look to you if I have any more questions on hair.
Thanks again.

I mixed it with coconut cream (canned coconut milk, which I let sit for a week in the fridge to allow the water to separate).
