Question Help!

Hi, I'm new to Curls. I'm 16 and have no idea what to do with my hair. I'm a 3b and my hair is really fine but frizzy. Any suggestions?

Welcome!

Do you happen to possibly have a picture of your hair that you could provide? As, this will allow for me to best understand how your hair looks at this time. If you don't thave a picture that you can provide, then I will need to know a bit more information about your hair, so that I can provide necessary advice that is best tailored towards your own individual hair needs and concerns at this time.

Is your hair currently natural, chemically relaxed, chemically texturized, chemically straightened, transitioning?

How have you been currently maintaing your hair?

Do you use direct heat (handheld blowdryer, flatiron, pressing comb. etc.) on your hair? If so, then when was the last time that this occurred?

What cuurent hair challenges/concerns are you currently dealing with?

Hi! My hair is natural. I use Olive oil products on my hair, but they're too heavy. I usually get up and rinse it in the shower then apply the olive oil lotion then let it air dry. By the end of the day it's really frizzy and almost an afro. I do flat iron my hair, but my flat iron is 100% ceramic plates. The last time I flat ironed it was a couple days ago. My problem with my hair now is that no matter how much mouisterizer I put in my hair, it's still dry but greasy. I've included a pic.

Now, since you flation your hair regularly, you are causing your natural curl pattern and texture to take upon a temorarily looser state. Therefore, if I were to provide you with a hairtying of your hair at this time, based upon the picture provided, it wouldn't be the most accurate one. As, it would be a hairtyping of your hair how it looks in a temporarily loosened state due to frequent flatironing of it. For me to most accurately gage what your natural hairtype is, I would need to see a picture of your hair that is a direct reflection of how your hair looks after it has been several months without being flatironed. Even though you do wear your hair natural and chemical free, you are still regularly flatironing (i.e. regularly temporarily altering the structure of your hair). Therefore, your regularly flatironed hair would need proper time to revert back before the hair will actually resume its true natural look (i.e. genetically defined natural curl pattern and texture) once again.

Being that you are a person of color, your hair has a natural genetic dryness associated with it. Once you combined this factor with frequent flationing (which removes moisture out of the hair), you are keeping your hair in a severely parched state. And, as a result, your hair is overly thirsty for moisture.

By using the olive oil products, it is probably not effectively able to properly penetrate the hair. As, a result, its just lying on top coating the hair and leaving your hair greasy.

CURLS does offer sample kits as well as larger kits. And, of course CURLS does offer the products sold indivdiually. However, I can tell you that is best to start off with a kit, which is cheapest and most affordable.

CURLS for Women products, sample kits, and custom kits are found here on the site: Curly Hair Products: Shampoos, Moisturizer, Conditioners, Stylers by CURLS

If you are going to continue to wear your hair flationed, and then for a few days a week have your hair worn non-straight (i.e. slightly textured), then I would recommend your using the following products: Quenched Curls Moisturizer & Milkshake

I also feel that the CURLS Cleansers and conditioners would work perfectly to help you get the best results from the CURLS line, when consecutively used together as a system. CURLS Curliscious Cleansing Cream and Ecstasy Asian Hair Tea Conditioner would be a winning cleanser+conditioner combination for you to start off with as well.

Also, keeping one's ends in great shape is key to havimg a good regimen. Having your ends trimmed regularly every 6-8 weeks is normally recommended. And, being able to maintain a nice, shaped style to one's hair, in adition to using products designed for promoting and maintaing healthy hair is also very key as well.
