Smile Hello from NC newbie

I am so glad to find this forum! I have two daughters - an 8 yr. old (3A) and an 11 yr. old (4B/C, I think).

Three years ago I had my oldest daughter's hair relaxed - out of desperation, when her body outgrew her pigtail hairstyles. Since then we transitioned to back to natural and started to flat iron just to make "the bush" more manageable and fit into a pony tail without stretching out hairbands to the point of no return.

I want to give up the flat ironing because I think it is ruining her hair, plus the fact she immediately sweats out the press after having PE at school, and rainy days make her hair explode.

Back in November, our hairdresser recommended an "all-natural hair softener" she called it, (not a relaxer) that would loosen the curl, but allow the hair to "keep its curl pattern memory." It was a sort of cream that was applied like a relaxer. Again, out of desperation I relented. It did make it easier to comb, but I believe it took out more curl than I wanted.

Just until recently before I came across this site, we were using a moisturizing lotion that had mineral and petroleum oil in it. To my horror, our hair became dry and hard, and our scalps were also dry. Thanks to this site, I discovered that those two elements in the lotion that were the very things we needed to stay away from! I immediately threw away that bottle and purchased some Curls products on line.

I bought some carrot oil moisturizer to carry us through until your products arrive in the mail. I sure hope they work!

Anxious,

mamato2

Welcome! I am so glad that you discovered Curls. As, the products will definitely help to strengthen, moisturize, and give an over-all healthy look to your daughters natural curls.
