Default How Many Years Have You Been Wearing Your Hair Natural?

I have been wearing my hair natural going on two years now. As, it will be officially two years in April of this year.

It was rocky transitioning from relaxers at first. But, as of now things are going much smoother.

I've only had one relaxer when I was 16 and that was 7 yrs ago. I only get my hair flat ironed. I've been trying to work on my curls seriously for about 4 yrs.

I've been natural for 9 years this year. It's been a tremendous journey. I don't use any heat at all.

Smile How long...

I started my journey 10/15/07 and what a challenge it has been. I've thought many times about transitioning. The pass two weeks have been a lot of research and learning. I look forward to traveling this new path for a long time.

Welcome Sdsmit70!

I understand you on transitioning. As, I had thought about it so many times before I ended up transitioning for good in 2005.

Good luck on your journey! And,, if you have any concerns or questions while you are transitioning please don't hesitate to PM me.

I've been natural for most of my life...my mom tried to relax my hair in 5th grade and it just made my hair frizzy and poofy. I find that I don't have to relax to straighten my hair...I just rollerset my hair and dry for about 1 hour and use a solia flat iron to straighten. I also use to go to dominican hair salons. Now I just where it curly most of the time and straighten it when I want to. I think my hair likes the transition of both from time to time. When I wear my hair curly for a long time wetting it everyday, my hair starts to tangle and break.

I may have mentioned this already but I've been natural since September 2006 and can't wait to pass the two year mark. I really can't believe how quickly my hair grows now that it's natural. I definately won't be touching another relaxer, fingers crossed

Was actually supposed to say 100% Natural from June/July 2007 as I was transitioning from the September the year before silly me. </shakes head>

I have been natural for about 3 years. I used to have mid-back length hair and, one day, I decided cut all the relaxed part. I ended up with about 1/2 in length afro. It was scary and liberating at the same time. I have slipped couple of times and used texturizer, but I am all natural now. I love my natural hair. I have been keeping it at about 1" length. I think, I will try to let it grow and see how long it will get.
