Thanks again!
Thanks, so blessed! I will definitely keep you posted. I just got my curls whipped cream today. When I properly used the products, I did a twist out and it lasted for 3 days (and that was just with the curls milkshake!) With my other products my hair was only lasting for a day. Now that I know my hair can last for 3 days I will most likely be washing it every 3 days, not everyday, yay!!! I can already tell these products are going to be great, and they smell amazing. Last question...I have one of those brushes that have the hard bristles, is that what you are talking about to use to detangle my hair? It says "re-enforced bristles" and "Diane" on the handle. Thanks again!

Whitekzbc, I'm glad to hear that things are going better with your twistouts! And, in regards to the brush, I don't off hand what type of brush that you are referrring to. Could you possibly take a picture of it and upload it for me to directly see what you are talking about?

detangling?
Thanks so much for the help soblessed...my hair has been doing really well! I only wash my hair twice at the most per week and the products are working well for me. The only problem I'm having is that when I detangle my hair I feel like I am losing SO MUCH hair! I don't know if I'm detangling wrong or what but it seems like there is wayyyyy too much hair coming out of my head. I am using a good detangling comb too, so I just don't understand. It does seem like I am losing the permed parts of my hair, not the roots that are really thick. Any suggestions?

Your welcome!
I'm so glad to hear that the products are working well for you. Now, are you experiencing a fair amount of shedding when you detangle your hair with a comb when it has conditioner in it or when you detangle your hair after you have finished conditioning it? Now, it is normal for you as you get farther along in your transitioning journey to begin experiencing an increase in shedding. As, I experienced that as well. Detangling your hair when relaxed is much easier as the cuticle normally lays much flatter. But, when you begin transitioning and you get more and more new growth, you must understand that the new growth is coming in curly. Therefore, you are now dealing with more than one texture on top of your head. Some areas of your hair has a smoother cuticle and other areas of your hair has a raised cuticle. So, this does in turn contribute to an increase in shedded hairs.
The hair's normal shedding rate is 50-100 hairs a day. So, the amount of hairs that your probably shedding now probably is anywhere between 50-100. Now, as long as you aren't noticing bald patches appear on top of your head or having your hair come out in clumps, then excessive worry over your hair's shedding rate at this time in not necessary.
Now, I only normally wash my hair once a week. So, my hair only gets a thorough detangling done to it once a week. As, I feel that the less manipulation that I do to my hair (with either a brush or comb) the less hairs I actually shed. So, I detangle my hair first with my MEBCO Detangling Comb first while my hair has conditioner in it. Next, I do a second, more thorough detangling of my hair while it is wet with my Denman No. 4 Brush (after sectioning my hair off of course).
I don't know how many times a month you do deep conditioning treatments using heat on your hair. But, I would honestly suggest that you do perform deep conditioning treatments using heat on your hair at least 3 times a month. As, this will allow your deep conditioner to penetrate your hair to its deepest level possible. And, this in turn should provide your hair with increased strength and resiliency.

Hi soblessed:
Now that I think about it, I think I am losing much more hair than that when I detangle. A LOT of hair is coming out, and there are clumps sometimes But I know I have to detangle my hair so I don't know what to do?! I think that there are patches of my hair that are starting to come out. How can I detangle my hair without ending up bald?

Besides upping your deep conditioining treatments using heat, here's something else you may consider doing as well:
You can switch to only detangling your hair (with a wide toothed comb )when it has conditioner in it only. And, then after rinsing out the conditioner you would section off your hair. Next, you would take your first section, spray it with Curls Quenched, use your fingers to detangle, and after detangling you would just apply your styling product of choice to this section (making sure to throughly smooth it through). After completing the first section, you would just move on to another section and repeat the same step. When you have finished applying product to your whole head then you would scrunch your hair all over, in order to better enhance your hair's texture.
Also, I did mention that I only detangle my hair once a week after I wash and conditioner my hair. So, if you can try going from 2 days a week washing your hair down to 1, this would cut amount of times that you detangle your hair on weekly basis. And, in turn this should help with your increased shedding problems.
I honestly feel that the increased shedding that you are receiving is due to your hair going through a period of transitioning and also due to the amount of times a week that you detangle your hair. Also, I am not sure of what type of comb or brush you use for detangling your hair. As, the detangling tools you use can also play a part in the amount of shedding you are getting. Now, I have already stated that i use a MEBCO Detangling Comb and Denman No. 4 Brush for detangling my hair with. I have personally found that this particular comb doesn't rip my hair out like some others I have tried. I detangle my hair first while I have loads of conditioner in it. And, then I do a second detangling of my hair using a brush, while my hair is soaking wet.
Hopefully, this information will be of more help to you!

Big chop!
Hi soblessed,
Just wanted to keep you updated...the two textures were driving me crazy and I really think that is what was making my hair suffer, so......last night, my friend cut off all my hair except like 2 inches of my new growth and I LOVE it! It was so liberating and now I know my hair is going to grow in healthy. I am actually putting in braids today just to give my hair a break from all the constant handling...do you have any suggestions about using the products (specifically the shampoo and conditioner(cleansing cream&asian tea)) while I have the braids in? Thanks so much!

Good for you, Krysten ! I am so glad to hear about your great news! As, I'm sure that you feel SO liberated now!
Well, your getting braids put inn your hair is okay to do. Now, I do recommend that you do not keep the braids in any longer tha 8-10 weeks. Also, after getting your braids taken out, you must give your hair a break. Because, if you keep putting in braids or even weaves in the hair back to back then this can lead to your own hair breaking off.
In regards to your shampooing your hair with braid in it, here's what I recommend:
You are to wash your braids on a weekly basis. Pour streams of diluted shampoo (CURLS Cleansing Cream) and warm water from a large cup over your braid extensions or natural braids and you can choose to squeeze the braids with a sponge to shampoo it or just do the pouring of diluted shampoo over your braids only. Next, you will rinse the hair. Afterwards, you will towel squeeze your braids in order to remove excess water from them. Lastly, you will run a small dab of moisturizer from the root to tip of each braid or even spray your braids for moisturization.
You are to re-spray your braids on a daily basis to keep them moisturized and not dry out. You are to oil your scalp every other day. And, a good product to use on your scalp would be Curls Champagne Curls and Kaviar Kinks Restoration Treatment as it will provide optimim scalp health and promote healthy hair growh as well.
And, here's what you can use to moisturize your braids: coconut oil, shea butter, or a braid spray. Also, be sure to either wear a satin scarf or satin bonnet inorder to kep your braids lookingg fresher longer.
Overall, the less manipulation that you do to your braids the better. As, the more you do to braids (natural braids or braid extensions), the longer they'll last you.
